Earlier today, I checked my email and saw a regular old Facebook friend request from a familiar name.  The name was not one that I would have expected to see in a million years beofrehand, but makes perfect sense now that I think about it.  What’s most cool about it is how it so completely fits into the spirit of Bloody Nostrils as my newest bestest friend is a guy that’s given (and gotten) way more than his fair share of bloody noses.

brashear-nhl-profileYeah, that’s right, Donald Brashear is my bud, now.  Donald Brashear of 221 carrer NHL fights fame according to hockeyfights.com.  How freaking cool is that?  As cool as the Capitals beating the Penguins 5-2 yesterday?  I don’t know.  Maybe.  But it’s still pretty damn cool.

Like I said, I never would have expected it, but it makes sense.  There’s been a fan page on Facebook for a while and I accidentally joined it a couple months ago.  A friend had joined it, I followed the link, clicked the “become a fan” link by accident and then thought, “I like watching the guy play.  I love reading his quotes. He’s got that funky website…if it’s really him and his,” and decided to stay a fan.  So now, for some reason, he (or maybe someone else) is probably going through and adding a bunch or all of the 433 fans as friends

Of course, it’s probably not him anyway.  There are, what? Eleventy billion fake Alex Ovechkins and just about any other celebrity on Facebook?  In context, three or four fake Dons is believeable.  Even if it’s not him, it can still be a fun story to tell. ;)
